Smart Energy Training buys EAS Mechanical in fifth deal of 2026

Who's involved? EAS Mechanical was founded by Eamon Wilson in 2009 and supports more than 180 apprentices each week at its training facility. It offers apprenticeships in domestic plumbing and heating, electrotechnical, and building services engineering, plus the Gas Technician qualification. The team of trainers stays, and courses run as scheduled.

What's the endgame? For Smart Energy Training, EAS adds electrical training to its offer and extends its geographic reach. Director Paul Drew said the group will be "well placed to support more SME employers" amid national apprenticeship changes and demand for learners aged 16 to 24.
What did they say? Wilson said selling "was not an easy decision," but called it "the right move for the business, the people within it and the learners we serve." Gregg Scott, chief executive officer of Realise Training Group, said EAS "is very well respected in the industry and has a fantastic facility in Northampton."
The signal: The steady run of acquisitions reflects a push to consolidate technical training capacity as the UK builds the skilled workforce needed for the transition to greener energy. Scott flagged "further plans for expansion" as the group scales its footprint.
