Tax Star raises $1.75M seed to ride UAE's e-invoicing mandate

What's the deal? Tax StarDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, a UAE corporate tax software platform, has closed a $1.75 million seed round backed primarily by angel investors. The company is a pre-approved Accredited Service Provider (ASP) for the country's e-invoicing rollout.

What does it do? Tax Star bills itself as the UAE's first AI-powered corporate tax compliance software, using automation to help businesses meet local tax rules. It is the only ASP listed on the Xero and QuickBooksDealroom has a profile for this one. Why now? The UAE is mandating e-invoicing on a tight calendar. Businesses with annual revenue of AED 50 million or more must appoint an ASP by October 30, 2026, ahead of the first mandatory implementation phase in January 2027.

What's the endgame? Proceeds go toward go-to-market expansion, product development, and simplifying compliance. The company plans to extend beyond the UAE into the wider GCC and Europe, using its early positioning as proof it can serve other markets undergoing digital tax reform.

"Being a pre-approved ASP puts us in a strong position to support businesses through this transition, and this raise lets us invest in the team, the product, and the go-to-market work needed to do that at scale," said Rayhan Aleem, co-founder and chief executive officer.

The signal: The round sits in roughly the 30th percentile by size, so this is a modest raise. But regulatory deadlines can hand well-positioned compliance startups a captive market — and Tax Star is betting its ASP status turns a government mandate into demand.
