Foresight Group backs UK defence startup SpaceAM in seed round

What's the endgame? SpaceAM's devices collect critical data where "conventional systems" are too heavy or costly to deploy, the company said. It develops hardware, software, and AI in-house in the UK.
Why now? The raise follows a multi-million-pound contract with the UK's Ministry of DefenceDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → and SpaceAM's selection as one of 13 scaleups under the UK's Defence Unicorn initiative.
The money will fund SpaceAM's product range, strengthen its governance, and prepare it for growth. "Having Foresight on board does not just give us the capital to develop our product range, it gives us the structure and governance to start scaling," said Chris Isaac, founder and chief executive.
Isaac added that the round is "a clear signal to the market that we are preparing for a Series A round to scale at pace."
For Foresight, the bet is on sovereign capability. "SpaceAM has developed a differentiated sovereign autonomous sensing technology platform that addresses increasingly important needs across defence and security markets," said Rubina Singh, investment director at Foresight Group. She credited the team with turning "technical innovation rapidly into customer engagement and contract wins at an early stage."
The signal: Foresight's backing puts an established name behind an early-stage defence supplier, reflecting rising investor and government appetite for UK sovereign defence technology.
