Polaris Design Systems acquired by Core Scientific for $444M

Try Dealroom → has been acquired by Core Scientific for approximately $444 million in cash, according to the 14 August 2026 announcement. The transaction gives Core Scientific about 440 MW of grid-connected power capacity tied to existing service agreements with Oklahoma Gas & Electric.
What's the endgame? Core Scientific builds and operates data centres for high-density colocation, increasingly serving AI workloads. The Polaris capacity supports its plan to scale its Muskogee, Oklahoma campus to approximately 1.5 GW of gross power — about 1.0 GW leasable — through grid-connected and behind-the-meter solutions.
Why now? Core Scientific said that site acquisitions in 2026 have added more than 600 MW of leasable power to its portfolio as it scales its campuses. The company expects to deliver the next approximately 82 MW at Muskogee to its customer beginning in the second half of 2027.
The signal: Power capacity is becoming a scarce resource in the AI data-centre race, and operators are buying it rather than waiting years for grid connections. Core Scientific is securing additional megawatts as it expands its colocation infrastructure.
