It will use the money to invest in sales, marketing and new equipment, boosting production capacity and creating jobs.

Why now? The brewery has grown from a home-brewing operation into an established brand, supplying customers across the UK through its taproom, online store, wholesale partners and major retailers.

The funding aims to "take the next step," according to Mike Clayton-Jones, who cited opportunities to expand retail and wholesale reach. "This funding both unlocking new national listings and supporting existing ones," he said.

Rob Hillary, investment manager at The FSE Group, called it "a fantastic example of an ambitious founder-led business that has built a strong brand and loyal customer following over many years."

The signal: Debt funding through regional escalator schemes offers founder-led consumer businesses a route to scale without ceding equity — a practical path for brands with proven demand but capital-hungry production needs.
