The parallel move: Frontier AI platform company Cloudforce is doubling its headquarters footprint at National Harbor in Prince George's County, leasing an additional 15,000 square feet. It is retaining more than 130 employees and plans to add 250 jobs over five years as it scales its secure AI platform, nebulaONE, for higher education and public sector customers.
Why Maryland? Cloudforce selected the state after analysing sites across the DC-Metro region, citing technical talent, access to universities, and the Moore-Miller Administration's economic focus. What they're saying: "We chose to double down here instead, because we'd rather strengthen the place that helped build us than start over somewhere new," said Cloudforce founder and chief executive officer Husein Sharaf. Governor Wes Moore called the expansion "a win for our state's workers, students, and our future."
The signal: Both deals reinforce Maryland's twin bets on life sciences and AI. Bora's acquisition deepens Montgomery County's biomanufacturing base, while Cloudforce's expansion signals confidence in the region's tech talent pipeline as the state courts high-growth employers.
