Chinalco lifts Chalco stake to 34% with $98M share buy

The details: Chinalco and its affiliates acquired 77.4 million shares — 47.6 million A-shares and 29.8 million H-shares.

After the purchases, Chinalco and its parties acting in concert held 5.83 billion shares, or about 34.01% of Chalco's total issued share capital.

The signal: The move tightens the state-owned parent's grip on its listed aluminium producer, extending its control over one of China's largest metals groups.
