Electrogenic buys TREMEC to build permanent US base in California

Electrogenic develops, designs, and manufactures EV powertrain technology for carmakers and defence applications, including in-house vehicle control software, microprocessor design, and digital dashboards. Why now? "The US is our most important market, and we wanted to provide additional support to our US partners, as well as establishing a strategic base in California as part of our ongoing SDV software development programme," said Steve Drummond, chief executive officer of Electrogenic.
The expansion angle: The California base gives Electrogenic a wider US customer base and more localised services. It also expands its network of North American partners, offering them access to the company's "plug-and-play" EV conversion kits.
What's the endgame? The two companies will collaborate on next-generation powertrain technology and manufacturing. "It will enable us to accelerate new products, extend our manufacturing options and further elevate our service offering," Drummond said.
The signal: The acquisition reinforces Electrogenic's footprint in the EV powertrain sector and reflects how conversion specialists are consolidating software and hardware capabilities under one roof. Drummond called the deal "a natural evolution" after the teams had worked together for some time.
