What do they do? Cornell Pump and Roper Pump make engineered pumping technologies for demanding fluid-handling jobs, including slurry transport, solids handling and challenging suction-lift work. Both hold patented self-priming capabilities and serve construction and mining, food and beverage, agriculture, energy, and municipal markets.
The numbers: The two businesses are expected to generate more than $260 million in revenue in 2026, with EBITDA margins above 30%. The price represents roughly 11.6 times projected 2026 EBITDA after an estimated $170 million in tax benefits and about $23 million in run-rate cost synergies.
Xylem expects the deal to be accretive to adjusted earnings per share in 2027. The company generated $9 billion in revenue in 2025 and employs about 22,000 people globally.
What's the endgame? Xylem is pushing beyond traditional pumping into industrial environments where equipment reliability directly affects production. The acquired businesses will join its Water Infrastructure segment, adding products for customers whose needs fall outside conventional water movement and treatment.
"This acquisition expands our presence in key growth sectors and enhances our ability to help customers address evolving operational requirements," said president and chief executive officer Matthew Pine.
The signal: Xylem is betting that industrial modernization and infrastructure spending — not just municipal water investment — will drive demand for specialized fluid management. The deal broadens its exposure across mining, agriculture and energy, positioning it to profit wherever water is critical to operations.
