The all-equity, all-primary round funds the growth of its enterprise AI automation platform.

What's the endgame? The 16-person company builds AI software that automates knowledge work for highly regulated sectors such as banking, insurance, and healthcare. Why now? As nearly every company races to adopt AI, implementation help has become a sought-after service. "AI software is becoming easier to build, but deploying, governing, and improving it inside a complex enterprise remains difficult," Philpott said in a statement.

The signal: Investment firm a16z has called forward-deployed engineers — roles that help enterprises actually use the AI software they buy — the "hottest job in startups." Fisent's raise and its focus on deployment reflect a market shifting from building AI to making it work.
