The details: The Santander loan comes to roughly £38.4 million, alongside two smaller facilities covering VAT costs and a debt-repayment reserve. Most of the financing will fund construction and repay shareholder loans provided during development.
How the floor works: EDF Energy will manage trading for the battery and guarantee a minimum annual income, sharing any earnings above that floor with Econergy. Together with related capacity market payments, the guaranteed revenues are expected to total £45–50 million over ten years.
Why now? This is Econergy's second UK storage deal with Santander UK and EDF Energy in 2026, suggesting the structure may be becoming standard practice in the UK storage market.
The signal: Combining project debt with long-term revenue certainty gives asset owners a clearer base from which to unlock further capital as Britain electrifies its grid.
