Try Dealroom →, a Netherlands-based clearing and execution business focused on European energy and environmental markets. Terms were not disclosed. What each side does. Marex operates as a diversified financial services group. BCI, founded in 2014 to help European greenhouse operators access energy markets, provides execution, clearing and physical delivery across gas, electricity and emissions products.
What's the endgame? Marex wants to deepen its clearing business and expand in European power and gas. "This acquisition is aligned with our strategy to grow our clearing business and bring new clients to the Marex platform," said Thomas Texier, Marex's group head of clearing.
What changes for clients? BCI clients will gain access to a broader product range, deeper liquidity and Marex's global reach, while retaining the specialist service they use now. Marex will add physical delivery and spot-trading capabilities in power and gas.
The signal. Financial platforms are buying specialist niche traders to build one-stop clearing and execution businesses across increasingly complex energy and emissions markets. For Marex, BCI is a targeted bet on Europe's power markets.
