EFA Group backs Fractal Networx in early-stage defence-tech deal

What's the deal? Greek dual-use technology group EFA GroupDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → has made an early-stage venture investment in Cypriot startup Fractal NetworxDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, the two companies announced in August 2026. Fractal builds electronic warfare tools and command-and-control (C2) systems designed to protect armed forces, critical infrastructure and strategic sites from conventional and asymmetric threats.

What's the endgame? The deal gives EFA Group access to Fractal's portfolio of in-house products already in operational use. These include the ORION CX software platform and ALECTO EW, a modular counter-drone (Counter UAS) and electronic warfare system.

Why now? EFA Group frames the move as part of a wider investment plan to build a regional defence-innovation hub in the Eastern Mediterranean, linking the Greek and Cypriot ecosystems. It also expands the group's presence in Cyprus and adds specialist engineers to its team.

Grigoris Koutsogiannis, chief executive officer of EFA Group, said the aim is to create "a strong regional pillar of defence innovation in the Eastern Mediterranean." Elena Fragou, managing director of Fractal Networx, said the partnership lets the startup "move to the next phase of its development" by combining the startup's electronic warfare expertise with EFA Group's industrial capacity and international reach.

The signal: The tie-up reflects growing demand for counter-drone and electronic warfare capabilities as governments confront both conventional and asymmetric threats. It also points to consolidation among smaller European defence-tech firms seeking scale through partnerships with larger industrial groups.
