Creattura raises $6.3M Series B to expand rice methane projects

What's the deal? Japanese developer Creattura has raised 1 billion JPY ($6.3 million) in a Series B round to expand its rice methane reduction projects.

What does it do? Creattura develops carbon credit projects that cut methane emissions from rice cultivation. It has been building projects under the Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM), Japan's bilateral carbon crediting scheme.

Why now? Rice methane projects are gaining traction in the region. One developer's project in the Philippines reached 14,000 hectares in March 2026, becoming the largest private JCM development using the approved rice methane reduction methodology there.

What's the endgame? The fresh capital is earmarked for scaling those rice methane projects.

The signal: Investor appetite for rice methane developers is strengthening. Days before Creattura's raise, an Aramco unitDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → backed a separate rice methane developer's $9.5 million funding round — a sign that agricultural methane is drawing bigger cheques and higher-profile backers.
