Who's who? Founded in 2010, Wakefield Partners services around 1,500 client entities across individuals, families and small- to mid-sized businesses. Its directors, Simon Warner and Toby Oakley, join Findex as partners alongside their team.

What's the endgame? The acquisition forms part of Findex's strategy to offer integrated financial advice across Australia and New Zealand. It fills a gap in Findex's Adelaide operations, pairing accounting and SMSF work with its wealth management arm.

Why it matters. Findex co-chief executive Tony Roussos said Adelaide has long been an important market, calling the deal a deliberate move to provide a more complete local offering.

What changes for clients? The Wakefield team will integrate into Findex over the next 12 to 24 months, building out a full accounting, tax, SMSF and wealth management offering in Adelaide. The firm's clients will continue to work with the advisers they know, now backed by Findex's scale and specialist capability.

The signal. The deal marks another step in Findex's expansion through acquisitions, consolidating advisory services under one national network as it deepens its footprint in key Australian markets.
