Why now? The deal reflects what Oshkosh calls an "open innovation" model: combining in-house engineering with outside investments to speed commercialisation. The company plans to showcase its robotics and automation portfolio at CES 2027.
"The future of construction isn't defined by connected equipment alone; it's defined by connected job sites," said Jay Iyengar, executive vice president and chief technology and strategic sourcing officer at Oshkosh. He added that the capabilities "have the potential to create value across the Oshkosh portfolio over time."
The signal: Corporates are increasingly buying into construction robotics rather than building it alone. Oshkosh's investment points to sector momentum, with incumbents wagering that AI and autonomy — not just smarter machines — will shape how job sites run.
