Why now? The acquisition brings Pronto's autonomy capabilities into Atoms as Kalanick expands into mining, food and transportation. The deal follows Atoms' $1.7 billion funding round in July 2026, in which Uber also invested.
The signal: Atoms is assembling a group of former Uber executives and technical leaders around a broader push into industrial robotics and AI. The Pronto acquisition gives that strategy an operating foothold in autonomous vehicles and mining.
