Imagine Learning buys Wayside Publishing to grow world language offering

What's the endgame? Imagine Learning provides core curriculum, digital courseware, assessment tools, and school services to districts across the US, reaching more than half of the nation's school districts. Adding Wayside broadens its ability to serve districts seeking integrated instruction across subjects.

Why now? Founder and chief executive officer Jonathan Grayer said world language education helps prepare students by strengthening "communication, collaboration and adaptability." Wayside chief executive officer Meghann Gorden said joining Imagine Learning will let it "extend its reach" while continuing to support educators.

The signal: As schools emphasise preparing students for a global workforce, demand is growing for programs that pair language acquisition with cultural understanding. The deal reflects continued consolidation in the K–12 curriculum market, with established providers folding into larger platforms that combine academic content with AI-supported learning tools.
