Swiss privacy startup PrivacyBee raises VC round to fund European push

What's the deal? Bern-based PrivacyBeeDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → has closed an early-stage venture round from business angels and an early-stage VC to fund its expansion across Europe. The startup sells an all-in-one platform that manages website data-protection compliance — privacy policies, cookie banners, and legal notices — for small and medium-sized businesses.

What's the endgame? PrivacyBee wants to grow beyond the DACH region into more countries. Its four-person leadership team — chief executive officer Tom RöthlisbergerDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, chief marketing officer Julia Moll, chief product officer Jannik Fivian, and chief technology officer Benjamin Indermühle — is moving permanently from venture builder Digital Innovation LabDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → into PrivacyBee AG to drive that push.

By the numbers: The startup counts more than 11,000 active subscriptions from DACH customers and over 500 sales partners. It has roughly doubled revenue almost every year, with about 80% still generated in Switzerland.

Why now? PrivacyBee was founded in 2023 by Digital Innovation Lab and law firm Domenig & Partner, prompted by Switzerland's new data-protection law (nDSG). It expects demand for simple compliance tools to rise as EU regulation, such as the Digital Omnibus, takes shape.

Small firms like a physiotherapy practice or a painting business face the same data-protection laws as large corporations but usually lack the expertise or capacity to keep policies current. Most existing automated tools target bigger companies. "Every subscription secures one website," said Moll, noting most customers have fewer than 10 employees.

The company also offers a partner programme with its own management tool, which Moll credits for strong partner growth across Switzerland, Germany, and Austria. Since completing the all-in-one platform, it has seen clear growth in Germany and Austria.

The signal: Tightening privacy rules on both sides of the Swiss-EU border are creating a market for affordable compliance tools aimed at the smallest businesses — a segment larger enterprise vendors have largely overlooked.
