GYS buys Uniteck in first acquisition, enters on-board energy market

What's the endgame? The move takes GYS into a new segment built around the electrification of off-grid sites and nomadic transport. Uniteck will keep its identity, its Béziers site, and its entire team.
Why now? Both companies are French manufacturers that design and assemble in their own workshops, and GYS said the two businesses complement each other. "Our activities are complementary and the synergies will be strong," said Bruno Bouygues of GYS.
Uniteck brings a broad product portfolio and customer base, adding value through in-house design and assembly. GYS, meanwhile, has built its business on power electronics and serves customers in more than 130 countries.

The signal: The deal reflects how established power electronics makers are expanding into the fast-growing electrification market, using acquisitions to add capabilities in off-grid energy and mobility rather than build them from scratch.
