Try Dealroom →, its primary vehicle service contract administrator, the St. Peters, Missouri-based company said on August 4, 2026. The move makes CarShield a fully integrated provider, handling everything from sales to claims processing and payment. American Auto Shield will keep its name but operate within the CarShield family.

What's the endgame? CarShield sells vehicle protection plans; American Auto Shield administers the claims behind them. By bringing administration in-house, CarShield removes the gap between selling coverage and delivering it.

Why it matters: The vehicle service industry has long relied on third-party administrators, which can create fragmented experiences for customers seeking repairs. Owning the full process gives CarShield a single point of accountability and direct control over service delivery.

"By bringing vehicle service contract administration in-house, we're creating a more seamless, responsive, and efficient process," said CarShield chief executive officer Nick Hamilton.

The company said it is investing in new technology and compliance standards, and plans to use internal data to improve the claims process.

The signal: The acquisition reflects a broader push toward vertical integration, as service brokers move to own the full customer lifecycle rather than depend on outside partners. For CarShield, controlling both sale and service ties its brand reputation directly to how claims are handled.
