China's Lingo Space raises tens of millions of yuan to track crowded orbits

What does the company do? Founded in August 2025, Lingo Space monitors space objects and debris and provides collision warnings to satellite operators and constellation builders. It compares its work to map navigation for near-earth orbit — tracking the flow of satellites rather than city traffic.
Why now? Low-earth orbit is getting more crowded as low-orbit satellites and space debris multiply, raising collision risks. In China, such monitoring has largely been handled by state-level research bodies; as commercial spaceflight scales up, operators increasingly need commercial SSA services.
Who's behind it? Co-founders Zeng Yiqiang and Ban Caohuo both earned bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees at Tsinghua University. Ban worked on precise orbit determination for a space station, building a correction model that cut annual collision-avoidance manoeuvres from more than 30 to between three and five.
What's the endgame? The company has built an SSA data service platform and is now constructing an integrated ground-and-space monitoring system using optical telescopes, radio equipment, and phased-array radar. Funds will go toward that network, algorithm platform iteration, team expansion, and key customer development.
What could go wrong? Zeng concedes commercial firms still trail state teams on monitoring infrastructure such as radar. Its edge, he argues, lies in data processing and analysis — turning raw observations into decisions clients can use, delivered through standardised tools like collision-warning APIs.
Where's the revenue? Lingo Space is already working with a Chinese mega-constellation operator on software and data services, providing interface construction and standardised collision-warning information. The system is in testing, with plans to serve the client long-term.
The signal: As commercial satellites flood orbit, "space traffic safety" is emerging as a distinct market beyond rockets and satellite communications. Lingo Space is betting that private players can move faster than national teams by focusing on usable, AI-driven analytics rather than duplicating hardware.
