Try Dealroom → to fund a national store rollout and an AI-led operating model. Entrepreneur Dilesh Mehta also took part, alongside a syndicate of brand builders, retail leaders and technology specialists. The value beauty retailer did not disclose the amount.

Why now? The raise follows the opening of Bodycare's first "next-generation" Studio Store in Sheffield, where the retailer said early trading exceeded expectations. It comes barely two years after the previous company entered administration in September 2024, closing all 147 locations before an investor group led by Charles Denton acquired the brand.

What's the endgame? New capital will fund AIMEE, Bodycare's intelligence platform, which analyses customer behaviour, product trends, pricing, inventory and creator performance. The company positions the technology as infrastructure for its stores — not a replacement for shops or staff.

Where next? Bodycare plans to open sites in Derby and Leicester in August, with further locations lined up in Bradford, Leeds, Wakefield, Dudley and Blackburn. It is targeting 25 stores in 2026, 50 by the end of 2027 and 200 within five years.

Its Studio Store format combines health and beauty essentials, exclusive brands and creator facilities, with spaces built to host live social commerce broadcasts.

"Retail doesn't need another retailer, it needs a fundamentally different model," Denton said, adding that consumers increasingly discover products through creators while still valuing in-person shopping.

The signal: Arāya Ventures is betting that trusted consumer brands paired with AI operations define the next retail winners. "We believe the next generation of retail winners will combine trusted consumer brands with AI-first operations," said founder and managing partner Rupa Popat. Bodycare's quick re-raise, so soon after the brand's collapse, tests whether that model can revive value retail on the high street.
