Medley acquires RMCareer to bolster doctor, pharmacist hiring
What's the deal? Medley, a Tokyo-based medical healthcare technology firm, acquired all shares of RMCareer — formerly Recruit Medical Career — on August 3, 2026, making it a consolidated subsidiary. RMCareer, founded in 1979, specialises in recruitment support for doctors and pharmacists. Deal terms were not disclosed.
What's the endgame? Medley wants to strengthen hiring support in the hospital sector, where staffing shortages are a chronic problem. It plans to combine RMCareer's advisor-led recruitment expertise with its own IT and AI capabilities and the reach of Jobmedley, its medical and nursing job platform.
Why now? Both companies frame the move around Japan's medical workforce shortage and regional imbalances, which they call a threat to healthcare sustainability. "Medical workforce shortages and regional maldistribution are social issues that affect the sustainability of medical healthcare," said Yosuke Ishizaki, senior executive officer at Medley.
What changes for customers? RMCareer's recruitment services will be renamed under the Jobmedley brand: Recruit Doctors Career becomes Jobmedley Agent Doctors, and Rikunabi Pharmacist becomes Jobmedley Agent Pharmacists. No action is required from existing users.
The numbers. Jobmedley has over 450,000 client facilities and more than 3.19 million registered members as of the end of March 2026. RMCareer brings a base of over 60,000 registered doctors, more than 70,000 pharmacists, and roughly 10,000 clients, with recruitment outsourcing services running at more than 700 hospitals and clinics.
The signal: The deal marks further consolidation in Japan's medical recruitment market, pairing a high-volume direct-recruiting platform with a specialist advisor-led firm. Medley also signalled plans to push into AI- and DX-driven business process outsourcing for hospital HR operations, betting technology can ease a persistent staffing crunch.
