AutoRek acquires London fintech Grath to expand AI reconciliation

What's the deal? AutoRekDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, a Glasgow-based enterprise financial controls and reconciliation firm, has acquired GrathDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, a London fintech specialising in AI-driven reconciliation and compliance. Terms were not disclosed. The move adds AI-enabled automation across the full reconciliation lifecycle, from data ingestion and matching through to risk and compliance management.

Who's who? Founded in 1994, AutoRek serves over 100 clients in 15 countries with more than 170 employees across five locations. Grath, founded in 2019, serves banks, payment providers, brokers, and fintechs from offices in the UK, UAE, and Australia.

What's the endgame? The combined portfolio offers customers three deployment routes within one governed framework: AutoRek's enterprise private cloud, Grath's multi-tenant SaaS platform, and Grath's embedded AI infrastructure, TopaDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →. Launched earlier this year, Topa lets teams integrate a matching engine, machine learning models, and an agentic reasoning layer directly into their own systems.

Why now? "Financial services is at an inflection point. Institutions no longer want to choose between robust enterprise controls and the speed of AI-led innovation, and now they do not have to," said Grath chief executive officer Matt Povey. AutoRek chief executive officer Chris Livesey framed the rationale around control: "Customers want the benefits of AI delivered through governance, auditability and human oversight."

Global reach: The deal furthers AutoRek's international expansion, adding Grath's US client base to its growing US footprint and extending its Middle East presence through Grath's UAE clients. It follows the opening of AutoRek's Miami office and two senior sales hires focused on the region earlier this year.

The signal: The acquisition reflects a wider push in financial technology to pair enterprise-grade controls with AI automation, without forcing firms to trade governance for speed. By offering three operating models under one framework, AutoRek is betting that flexibility, not a single product, will win regulated customers.
