Try Dealroom → to California-based OPTERRA Energy ServicesDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, the company announced on 27 July 2026. The deal, agreed on 18 May 2026, is structured as a stock sale, though financial terms were not disclosed.

Who's involved? NORESCO helps customers upgrade energy infrastructure and buildings to boost efficiency; Carrier bought it in 2008. OPTERRA is a subsidiary of New York-based LS PowerDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, which develops and invests in power and energy infrastructure.

Why now? On a second-quarter earnings call, Carrier chairman and chief executive officer David Gitlin said the sale is part of efforts to simplify the company's portfolio. Carrier is refocusing on data-center HVAC and AI-enabled building management.

The move follows Carrier's $440 million sale of Italian heating equipment maker RielloDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → to Ariston GroupDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → on 1 July 2026. Gitlin framed both deals as part of the same streamlining push.

What's NORESCO worth? Recent contracts show the firm's scale. It won a subcontract tied to a $104 million upgrade of a Federal Bureau of Investigation complex in March 2026, and a $252 million contract to modernise industrial infrastructure at a US Army depot in July 2025.

The signal: Carrier is trimming legacy businesses to concentrate on higher-growth markets tied to data centres and AI. For NORESCO, the sale places it inside a firm squarely focused on power and energy infrastructure — a closer strategic fit than a diversified HVAC parent.
