What each does: Both connect eyecare providers to negotiate lower prices with manufacturers, distributors, and vendors. Athens, Georgia-based EyeProGPO has over 12,000 members spanning practices, ambulatory surgery centers, and hospitals, buying ophthalmic supplies, pharmaceuticals, intraocular lenses, and capital equipment.

What's the endgame? EyeProGPO gains GPOphtho's members, programs, and supplier relationships, deepening its national footprint. "By consolidating our strengths, we can deliver even greater value, broader supplier access, and superior cost savings to more providers nationwide," said chief executive officer Phil Meyer.

What changes: GPOphtho physicians and facilities gain access to EyeProGPO's larger network and buying power. Founder Cynthia Matossian, who led GPOphtho, will join the EyeProGPO Physician Advisory Board.
