Compagnie des Alpes buys 33.9% of PadelCity in €20M padel bet
What's the deal? Compagnie des AlpesDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → (CDA) has taken a 33.9% stake in PadelCity, a German padel-court operator, in a deal valuing the company at slightly above €50m. The €20m investment splits into €8m to buy secondary shares from long-standing shareholders and €12m via a capital increase to fund PadelCity's rollout over the following 18 months.
What's the endgame? The agreement sets a phased timetable. CDA holds call options to reach around 75% of the equity in early 2028, then 100% by the end of 2030.
Why now? Founded in 2022, PadelCity runs 24 centres in Germany at mid-2026, up from 17 at the end of 2025. It is planning a sharp acceleration in openings, targeting 350 courts by the end of 2026 versus 117 at the end of 2025, aiming for annualised revenue of around €50m.
Where's the expansion? Beyond Germany, PadelCity is beginning to move into Austria and Poland, extending its footprint as court numbers scale.
How is CDA paying? The financing comes from CDA's available cash, notably reallocating compensation received when its public service delegation for the Tignes ski area ended.
The signal: CDA, best known for ski resorts and leisure parks, is redeploying cash into fast-growing padel infrastructure — a bet that the sport's boom offers a hedge to seasonal, weather-dependent mountain assets.
