Greyparrot raises $27M Series B to put physical AI in recycling plants

What's the deal? Recycling intelligence platform Greyparrot has raised $27 million in a Series B round led by Om Elite Assets Investment. The company will use the money to scale its infrastructure globally.

What's the endgame? Greyparrot's flagship product, Analyzer, uses AI-enabled cameras positioned above conveyor belts in sorting facilities to deliver real-time, product-level visibility into waste streams. The system can identify over 111 types of waste and has recorded more than 1 trillion detections to date.

Why now? Many recycling processes were built decades ago to handle simpler packaging, but modern products have grown far more complex. Greyparrot uses machine vision to augment existing separators, so fewer recyclables get missed and sent to landfill.

The economics: The company frames waste as an economic problem, not just an environmental one. Recovering materials such as aluminium and polyethylene terephthalate creates resale revenue for facilities; Greyparrot said its system delivers up to 40 times the return on investment for recycling centres.

Co-founder Ambarish Mitra described the approach as "unlocking the financial value of waste." He added: "Waste is like the shadow of human consumption every day."

Greyparrot also wants to use its data to shape packaging design. Subtle factors such as colour can change recovery rates — lightly coloured aerosol cans are recovered more often than dark ones, despite being identical materials.

"We want to inform packaging design policy," Mitra said, so that "the burden doesn't fall on recycling plants."

The signal: The raise reflects growing investor interest in physical AI applied to industrial processes. Greyparrot's pitch — higher yields without new equipment — targets the gap between aging recycling infrastructure and increasingly complex packaging.
