Arkenstone Defense buys GovPort to manage subcontractor compliance

The deal folds GovPort into Arkenstone Foundation, the company's security and compliance business.
What each company does: GovPort, built by military veterans and technology experts, centralises records, deliverables, and subcontractor compliance data that otherwise sit in spreadsheets, email threads, and disconnected portals. Arkenstone helps companies build the security, compliance, and operational capabilities needed to win and perform government work.
Why it matters: For prime contractors, a single subcontractor lapse — an expired certification, a missing document, an unmet flow-down requirement — can jeopardise a deliverable, an audit, or an entire contract. Most teams still track these obligations manually across dozens of partners and jurisdictions.
What's the endgame? Arkenstone wants to become the central operating infrastructure for companies entering and scaling within the government market. Alongside Foundation, its Cohort product covers HR, payroll, benefits, personnel security, and employment compliance.
What they're saying: "Winning the work is only the beginning," said Peter Dixon, co-founder and chief executive officer of Arkenstone Defense. "Staying compliant across a web of subcontractors is where programs actually get hard."
GovPort founder and chief executive officer Tonio DeSorrento framed the fit around a bigger problem. "We built GovPort to take the compliance and coordination pain out of government contracting, but that problem has never lived in isolation," he said. "Joining them lets us solve the whole problem, not just our slice of it."
The signal: The acquisition reflects a push to consolidate the fragmented back office of government contracting into a single platform. As compliance obligations stretch across longer subcontractor chains, integrated systems of record aim to replace the manual tracking that still dominates the sector.
