Liquid Interactive launches with C$700K to make AI visual-first

Co-founded by chief executive officer Sasha Ivanov and chief technology officer Ben Pearman, the company is betting the next era of AI will be visual and interactive rather than conversational.
What's the endgame? Its first product, Liquid Photos, turns static camera-roll images into experiences users can swipe through, pull apart, and explore. It can reconstruct a hiking trail from a series of photos, let users peek inside objects like a watch without a 3D scan, or answer questions about an album's images. Every experience can be shared online or exported as video.
Why now? Today's AI is still largely text-based — type a prompt, get an answer. As generative AI becomes ubiquitous, the company argues the next generation of experiences will move beyond text toward rich, interactive visuals.
The app is available for free download now. Early demos on X and Instagram drew more than 1 million views, with engagement from leaders at OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Apple, and Adobe.
What's next? Liquid Photos is the first of several planned products on the same technology. A second, Liquid Studio, will open the capabilities to brands, agencies, and creative teams for custom projects, turning flat product shots into interactive experiences.
Ivanov and Pearman were prototyped inside AXL — Ivanov as lead prototyper, Pearman as an engineer — before spinning out. The pair previously co-founded Maple Scan, an iOS app with more than 130,000 downloads.
The signal: AXL is backing the applied layer of AI over model-building. "The companies that matter from here won't be the ones with the biggest model. They'll be the ones that invent new ways for people to interact with it," said Daniel Wigdor, AXL's co-founder and chief executive officer.
