Alibaba Cloud leads $13.8M Series A for AI operations startup Beilian Zhuguan
What's the deal? Beilian Zhuguan Technology, a Hangzhou-based AI startup, has raised over 100 million CNY ($13.8 million) in a Series A round led by Alibaba Cloud. Returning investors HongShanDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → and Vision Plus CapitalDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → both over-subscribed.
What does it do? Founded in 2021 by former Alibaba Group technology executive Bi Xuan, the company builds AI-native site reliability engineering tools for automated IT operations. Its main product, SREAgent, uses large language models and autonomous agents to deliver continuous monitoring, automated fault diagnostics, and workload optimisation.
What's the endgame? Beilian Zhuguan aims for what it calls "L4" autonomous IT operations management — a level that minimises human oversight. It plans to spend the fresh capital on core technical research and on accelerating commercial adoption across enterprise cloud environments.
Why now? Enterprise interest in domain-specific AI agents is accelerating as Chinese cloud providers shift from general-purpose models to task-oriented automation. Traditional site reliability engineering remains constrained by human oversight costs, complex multi-cloud architectures, and slow incident response.
The signal: A strategic investment from a hyperscaler like Alibaba Cloud points to a broader push to embed autonomous agent frameworks directly into cloud infrastructure. The goal: cut operating costs and improve system uptime for corporate clients.
