New Jersey American Water closes Gordon's Corner deal, adds 15,300 customers

Why now? The two companies announced the agreement on October 21, 2025, and the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities approved the sale on July 15, 2026. The deal closed July 27, 2026.
What's the endgame? New Jersey American Water will fold the system into its Coastal Operating Region, adding redundancy in an area that sees demand spikes during peak tourism and irrigation months. It has committed to more than $25 million in infrastructure investment over the first five years.
Planned work includes upgrading aging meters, fire hydrants, and water mains; rehabilitating the water tank on Holiday Road in Manalapan; and making treatment and security improvements.
What changes for customers? Former Gordon's Corner customers gain access to the company's MyWater online portal and its H2O Help to Others bill-assistance program. New Jersey American Water says it will maintain affordable rates and will mail details to residents in the coming weeks.
"This acquisition strengthens water service reliability in Monmouth County while providing customers with the benefits of being part of a larger water utility," said Mark McDonough, president of New Jersey American Water.
The signal: This is New Jersey American Water's eleventh acquisition in five years, together adding more than 40,500 water and wastewater customers. The steady roll-up reflects continued consolidation of small water systems into larger regulated utilities better positioned to fund aging infrastructure.
