Longwave nears $1B in assets with MG Financial acquisition

The players: MG Financial is a wealth advisory firm Galins built over a 30-plus-year career around personal, trust-based financial planning. The acquisition brings its clients into Longwave, a firm approaching $1 billion in assets under management with a nationwide client base.
Why now? Galins framed the deal as a succession decision. "Choosing a successor was the most critical decision in my retirement," he said, adding that he wanted a firm that would treat his clients "with the same level of care and attention they've come to expect."
What changes for clients? MG Financial clients keep the individualized, relationship-first approach that defined the practice, now backed by Longwave's larger resources. Eric Chaney, a partner in Longwave's Bellevue office, will lead the relationship on the ground.
Chaney joined Longwave through its January 2026 merger with Spectrum and has spent his career serving families and business owners across the Puget Sound region. "When my own firm joined Longwave in January, I stayed right where I was — same clients, same relationships, more resources behind them," he said.
The endgame: The deal extends Longwave's West Coast footprint. The firm now serves clients across Seattle and the greater Bellevue area in Washington State, where CEO and founder Nathan Munits said Longwave is "putting down real roots."
The signal: The acquisition reflects steady consolidation in wealth management, where larger firms absorb founder-led practices facing succession questions. For retiring advisers like Galins, joining a scaling firm offers a way to hand off client relationships without losing the personal approach that built them.
