RAM Tracking merges with Klipboard.io to build end-to-end fleet platform

What's the deal? Vehicle tracking firm RAM TrackingDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → has merged with job management platform KlipboardDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →.io, which will rebrand as RAM Job Management. The move, driven by parent company Klipboard (formerly Kerridge Commercial SystemsDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →), combines RAM's fleet visibility and vehicle tracking with Klipboard.io's field service tools into a single offering for trade and field service businesses.

What's the endgame? RAM aims to become a mobility solutions provider spanning field service, asset management, compliance, and fleet management. Fleet customers gain access to job scheduling, mobile workflows, quoting, invoicing, and customer communication tools within one ecosystem.

Why now? Klipboard frames the merger as closing a long-standing gap for trade businesses that manage both a mobile workforce and a vehicle fleet. "Until now, trade businesses had to stitch together their job management, compliance and fleet tracking from separate tools, separate vendors, and separate support teams," said Ian Bendelow, chief executive officer at Klipboard.

What changes for customers? Existing RAM users keep their tracking, driver behaviour monitoring, fuel management, and compliance tools, now consolidated into a central hub rather than separate products. New features include a "fuel finder" that helps managers locate the most cost-effective fuel for drivers. RAM describes the shift as an expansion of capability, not a disruption.

The signal: The deal reflects a fleet management market converging with broader business operations software, particularly across the UK's trade and field service SME segment — HVAC, electrical contractors, facilities management, construction, and utilities. "Vehicle tracking on its own is no longer enough for fleet-based businesses," said RAM Tracking chief executive officer Nicholas McClellan. As buyers increasingly seek consolidated tools, vendors that link fleet performance to job outcomes and cashflow are positioning to lead.
