Way Security raises $20M to automate costly identity management with AI

The startup, founded by former security leaders Yossi Barishev and Yonatan Rosenberg, is building an AI-powered platform to automate the operational work behind enterprise identity and access management (IAM).

What's the endgame? Way Security's agentic execution platform automates tasks that traditionally require consultants, system integrators, and internal engineers. Rather than asking companies to replace existing systems, it positions itself as an operational layer on top of what they already own.

Why now? Enterprise IAM programs can run years beyond schedule and reach seven- or eight-digit costs while still under-delivering. Way Security says implementation, customization, and ongoing services can cost three to five times more than the software itself.

That gap has created an IAM market where the services ecosystem is larger than the software it supports — the structural problem the company is targeting. Its platform automates identity lifecycle management, access governance, authentication, and policy enforcement, and aims to extend coverage to legacy and custom applications that lack standard federation protocols.

What they're saying: "IAM is the only space in cyber where overspending and under-delivering is an acceptable reality," said Barishev, co-founder and chief executive officer. "The industry normalized mediocrity and has almost given up trying to solve some of its biggest challenges."

Rosenberg, co-founder and chief technology officer, framed the pitch around returns: "Most IAM teams aren't looking to replace the platforms they've already invested in. They're looking to finally get the return on investment they were promised."

The signal: Way Security is betting that the next opportunity in identity security lies not in new tools but in making existing ones work. Its approach reflects a broader shift toward AI agents that automate the expensive human labor sitting between enterprise software and its promised value.
