Nordex lands €2.475B ESG-linked credit facility, refinancing through 2031

Who does what? Commerzbank serves as bookrunner and facility agent, Intesa Sanpaolo as global coordinator, bookrunner, and sustainability coordinator, and UniCredit as bookrunner, documentation agent, and process coordinating agent.

Why now? The facility replaces a previous arrangement, offering more capacity, greater flexibility, and more cost-efficient terms, according to the company. It is tied to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) criteria and supports financing across multiple currencies.

What's the endgame? Nordex says the money will help it convert sales opportunities into orders and execute its existing backlog. Chief financial officer Ilya Hartmann said the deal secured "a strong and reliable framework for the coming years."

The signal: At €2.475 billion, this ranks among the largest debt deals ever recorded in European energy, sitting in the 98th percentile of such rounds. The improved terms, Hartmann said, reflect banks' "confidence" in Nordex's long-term outlook.
