What's the endgame? Cole framed Bitcoin as critical infrastructure that needs continued investment in the developers who review code, fix bugs, and maintain security. He said owning Bitcoin alone does not satisfy institutional responsibility.

What could go wrong? Corporate money in open-source development raises questions about influence. Cole said the funding comes without expectations of shaping technical decisions, governance, or protocol development, and that Strive chose to fund established organisations rather than developers directly to avoid steering priorities.

He added that Bitcoin Core is not perfect. Open criticism, technical debate, and rigorous code review, he said, remain essential.
