ANNA Money buys two UK firms to build an AI platform for small businesses
What's the deal? London-based fintech ANNA Money has acquired UK Business Forums (UKBF) and Business Data Group (BDG), aiming to build an AI-powered operating system that helps entrepreneurs start, run, and grow their businesses. Terms were not disclosed.
Who's being acquired? UKBF is a community platform supporting more than 160,000 small business owners across the UK. BDG operates in the UK company formations market, running eFiling, the partner program, and a banking comparison page used by formation agents.
What's the endgame? ANNA wants a single platform covering company formation, banking, accounting, tax, payments, and admin — replacing the disconnected software and specialist advisers small businesses juggle today. Bringing eFiling in-house lets entrepreneurs move from forming a company to managing every part of it.
Why now? ANNA says the deals mark key milestones in that wider vision. It will keep investing in the UKBF community, adding its business tools so owners spend less time on admin.
Between the lines: ANNA is positioning itself as a partner to formation agents rather than a rival. "Rather than competing with these agents, ANNA is investing in the technology, automation and tools that strengthen their position in the market, helping them serve their customers better," says Eduard Panteleev, co-founder and co-CEO.
He added that ANNA's growth is tied to its customers': "The fastest way for ANNA to grow is to help the independent formation agents who rely on BDG's eFiling platform grow too."
The signal: The moves reflect a broader push among fintechs to bundle fragmented small-business services into one AI-driven layer — buying distribution and communities rather than building them from scratch.
