Emerald Horizon CEO backs €20M funding with 75K-share pledge
What's the deal? Emerald HorizonDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → said CEO and principal shareholder Florian Wagner has pledged 75,000 existing shares as collateral for a private Lombard loan. The move backs a broader financing package, including a previously disclosed €20 million equity funding commitment from Wagner. No shares are being sold, and Wagner keeps beneficial ownership, voting rights, and dividend rights.
Where does the money go? Wagner said the proceeds will primarily support the commercialisation of DUALstore PLUS and the accelerated technical implementation and industrialisation of ADES, Emerald's accelerator-driven subcritical microreactor platform.
Why now? The company says it is entering the most important phase of its roadmap after several years focused on technology development, industrial partnerships, and validation of its Energy-as-a-Service (EaaS) model. Its first DUALstore product, a modular 5MWh battery energy storage system, is expected to be available for commercial deployment from the third quarter of 2026.
The mechanics: The €20 million commitment will be provided in four €5 million tranches through 2028. The first tranche alone would cover the company's current cash burn and initial financing for the ADES prototype programme through year-end 2026.
What's the endgame? Emerald's strategy is not to bring a novel energy-generation technology directly to market. Instead, management intends to build a contracted customer base, financing infrastructure, and recurring cash flows through DUALstore before attaching ADES generation modules to those existing relationships.
The signal: A phased rollout — storage first, generation later — is a bet on reducing customer-acquisition risk and improving project bankability ahead of a harder-to-deploy microreactor product. With signed EaaS contracts still pending, investor focus over the coming quarters will centre on whether Emerald can turn its roadmap into revenue.
