Gentherm buys ThermaZone maker to grow its medical arm

The deal expands Gentherm's medical product portfolio and customer channels. Terms were not disclosed.
What each side brings: Gentherm is a global maker of thermal management and pneumatic comfort technologies, with automotive and medical product lines. IME's ThermaZone is a non-opioid device that uses controlled hot-and-cold therapy to support pain management and recovery.
Why now? The move follows Gentherm's July 20 announcement that its medical unit received FDA clearance for a separate product, ThermAffyx. The company is pushing to build out its medical business alongside its core automotive segment.
What's the endgame? Gentherm wants to expand into markets where its thermal capabilities and customer relationships apply. IME adds an established technology platform and customer base, which the company expects to drive revenue synergies across additional channels.
