Focus buys managed IT firm GuideIT to unify healthcare technology

What's the endgame? Focus is building what it calls a Unified Healthcare Platform, aiming to replace fragmented vendor relationships with a single accountable partner. The company wants to be responsible for keeping technology running and for helping healthcare organizations operate more effectively.
Why this company? GuideIT has spent more than two decades serving healthcare organizations, building a reputation for service delivery and long-standing client relationships. Focus says those strengths complement its own platform and shared focus on accountability and measurable results.
What changes for customers? For GuideIT clients, existing teams, contracts, and day-to-day relationships stay the same. What expands is the breadth of expertise and resources behind those relationships, letting healthcare leaders replace separate providers for infrastructure, security, and support with one team.
"Healthcare doesn't have a technology problem, it has an accountability problem," said Bruce Schaumberg, founder and chief executive officer of Focus. "Too many organizations are expected to coordinate multiple technology providers when what they really need is one partner accountable for making technology work."
Russell Freeman, board member and chief executive officer of GuideIT, said the priority was finding a partner "that would strengthen what our clients value without changing who we are."
The signal: The deal reflects a broader push to consolidate healthcare IT under fewer providers as technology grows more complex. By expanding its national delivery capabilities and technical depth, Focus positions itself to support larger, more complex organizations while investing in automation and security.
