Medipreço raises R$2.5M seed to scale drug-benefit platform toward R$150M by 2030
What's the deal? MedipreçoDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, a Brazilian healthtech offering medication plans as a corporate benefit, has raised R$2.5 million (≈$492,475) in a seed round led by Silicon Valley-based bdev venturesDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →. It is the company's fourth capital raise, following an acceleration programme, an angel round, and a pre-seed.
Why now? The round came unsolicited. "A companhia já estava em breakeven e não estávamos com uma rodada aberta," said chief executive officer and founder Bruno Oliveira, adding that the fund approached the company and made an offer it saw as a good opportunity.
What's the endgame? Companies that buy the service give staff a balance to purchase medication via Medipreço's app or physical pharmacies. Founded in 2020, the startup reached breakeven in late 2023 and grew tenfold over the past 24 months, now serving over 100 clients and 500,000 lives.
The money funds a bigger sales team focused on large firms and expanded use of artificial intelligence. Medipreço already uses AI to read and validate prescriptions; it now plans agents that spot consumption patterns, predict health risks, and eventually handle service via WhatsApp.
Why it matters: The backing of a US fund is strategic, Oliveira said, because the medication-plan market is more mature in the United States than in Brazil. "Ter um investidor que já acompanhou esse ecossistema funcionando traz expertise," he said, noting it opens doors to qualified investors and speeds growth.
The target is to triple revenue annually and reach R$150 million in sales by 2030. With this round closed, the company is preparing for a future Series A, without a set timeline.
The signal: Medipreço is betting the medication benefit follows the path of dental and gym plans in Brazil — moving from novelty to standard corporate perk. A step-up from its previous raise, this seed round marks the point where a bootstrapped, profitable healthtech trades organic growth for outside capital and an AI push.
