James Caan backs Snag Tights in first consumer bet in 20 years

What's the deal? British entrepreneur and former BBC Dragons' Den star James CaanDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → has made a seven-figure investment in Snag Tights, the size-inclusive hosiery and apparel company founded by Brie ReadDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →. Caan said it marks his first consumer-facing investment in two decades.

What does Snag do? Since launching in 2018, it has offered hosiery and clothing across UK sizes 4 to 38 — roughly US sizes 0 to 34 — targeting customers it says mainstream fashion has long underserved.

The numbers: Snag has sold more than three million products and generated over £250 million ($335 million) in revenue since launch.

Why now? Caan framed the deal as "as much about changing the economics of fashion" as backing a consumer brand. He pointed to Snag's roughly 2% return rate, against an industry average of 40%, as proof "a different model is not only possible but commercially compelling."

How it works: Snag says designing garments to fit more bodies "properly the first time" cuts one of retail's biggest operational costs. High return rates erode profitability and drive waste at scale, Caan noted.

What's the endgame? Beyond capital, Caan will work with Snag's leadership to support international expansion and scale operations. "Having James on board... gives us the platform to take this even further, faster," Read said.

The signal: The deal reframes inclusive sizing as an operational lever, not just a social one — tying a broader customer base directly to lower returns and higher margins.
