Bestat closes ¥310M Series A for industrial 3D data, eyes physical AI

What's the endgame? Bestat turns physical sites into 3D data that different teams — design, production, maintenance, and suppliers — can share as a common reference. Its "3D.Core" datasets currently cover about 3.85km², or 0.0006% of the world's industrial 3D-relevant space. The company aims to grow that tenfold each year, reaching 6% of that space by 2030.
Why now? Bestat frames the raise around physical AI, where robots and humans work side by side. "Robots that safely collaborate with humans require 3D spatial information that captures reality as it is," the company said, positioning 3D data as a foundation for running machines, not just visualising sites.
Darwin Venture Management's managing partner, Kay Lin, said the firm valued Bestat's ability "to generate and manage highly accurate yet lightweight 3D representations of real-world environments," adding the investment supports expansion into Asian markets including Taiwan.
What's the money for? Bestat plans to accelerate its core algorithm development — technology derived from the University of Tokyo's Matsuo Lab — and widen adoption of digital twins and physical AI globally.
The signal: The round reflects investor conviction that digital twins will scale as AI and robotics advance, making accurate 3D spatial data critical infrastructure for automated factories and autonomous machines. Bestat is betting the value of that data is only starting to be understood.
