Ipsum Group acquires twoH and ExcelCS to build clean water arm

Try Dealroom → and ExcelCS, two North Wales businesses that serve the UK water and infrastructure sectors. The pair will sit within Ipsum's Water & Infrastructure division. Terms were not disclosed.

What do they do? ExcelCS delivers clean water commissioning and pipe-laying services, covering the installation, testing and commissioning of water assets. twoH hires and sells commissioning equipment, including pressure test pumps and chlorination units, and owns the Pipelayer App and Tibiis logger technology used by ExcelCS.

Why now? Ipsum said the deal combines field delivery, equipment provision and digital coordination into a single clean water offering. That complements its existing wastewater expertise, extending its reach across the full lifecycle of water assets.

What's the endgame? Ipsum plans to develop the combined capabilities through its national footprint. twoH is also an EUSR-approved trainer for commissioning and pipe-laying courses, adding a training strand to the group.

Andrew Cowan, chief executive officer of Ipsum Group, called it "an important step for Ipsum," saying the acquisition "forms part of Ipsum's strategy to continually expand its specialist infrastructure services and strengthen its position in the UK water market."

Ian McDonald, managing director of twoH and ExcelCS, said joining Ipsum "enables further investment in people, capability and growth."

The signal: Ipsum is buying its way to a broader specialist offering, stitching together clean and wastewater services under one roof as UK water companies look for partners across the asset lifecycle.
