Keyrenter Naperville buys Chicago North to build Chicagoland footprint

What's the deal? Keyrenter Naperville has acquired Keyrenter Chicago North, uniting both property management offices under owner and president Steve Kouba. The deal, effective April 10, 2026, creates a footprint stretching from Chicago's western suburbs into the city's North Side and North Shore.

Why it matters: Chicago North is one of the first franchises in Keyrenter's national network, while Naperville is one of its fastest-growing suburban operations. Combining them lets the two share resources, talent, and Keyrenter's national systems, including digital leasing technology, tenant screening, and financial reporting.

What's the endgame? Kouba is shifting Chicago North from a reactive operating model to a proactive, process-driven approach. Standardised workflows are expected to speed maintenance response, improve financial reporting consistency, and strengthen vendor coordination.

What stays the same? For owners, residents, and vendors, the transition is designed to be seamless. Existing contacts, payment portals, maintenance requests, and financial reporting systems remain unchanged.

Who runs it? The Chicago North territory is led by director of operations Jay Sandifer, office coordinator Ximena De Los Santos, and sales representative Hazard Bahr.

The signal: "Chicago North is one of the very first franchises in the Keyrenter system, and bringing it under the same roof as Naperville lets us build a true regional powerhouse," Kouba said. The move points to consolidation within franchise-based property management, where combining local operations under common ownership offers scale without disrupting existing customer relationships.
