bk plus buys 45-year-old Surrey accountancy firm Riches and Co.

What's the deal? UK accountancy group bk plus has acquired Riches and Co. Accountants, a chartered practice in Cobham, Surrey. Founded in 1979 and led by senior partner Richard Bolton, the firm serves clients ranging from individuals to companies with turnover above £60m ($80.7m). Terms were not disclosed.

What's the endgame? bk plus said the deal strengthens its presence in the South East and fits its focus on acquiring established, locally rooted operators. The group now has more than 58 offices and over 1,000 staff across the UK, and plans to keep building its national footprint.

What changes for clients? Bolton and his team stay in place and continue operating from the Cobham office. They keep the same partner-led service while gaining access to bk plus specialists in corporate finance, restructuring, and complex tax planning.

Riches and Co. covers statutory accounts and audit, corporate and personal tax planning, VAT, payroll, and support for startups. "Our clients will notice very little difference in how we work. Same people, same approach, same level of service," Bolton said.

bk plus chief executive officer Shaun KnightDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → said the firm is "exactly the kind of firm we look for," pointing to its 45-year track record and broad client base. "Surrey and the wider South East remain important markets for us," he added.

Who else is joining? In July 2026, bk plus appointed Peter Herberts as director of its restructuring and insolvency practice, reinforcing the specialist support it now offers acquired firms and their clients.

The signal: The deal is another step in the consolidation of the UK's fragmented accountancy market, where acquirers are rolling up long-established regional practices while keeping local teams and branding intact.
