CTC buys InteleCONNECT to push business services beyond its fiber footprint

What does each side do? CTC, formed in 1952, provides telephone, high-speed internet, digital television, and IT services across central and northern Minnesota. InteleCONNECT, founded in central Minnesota, advises businesses on phone, internet, cloud, and wireless choices, working with international, national, and regional providers.
What's the endgame? The deal expands CTC's business technology portfolio and lets it sell communication services beyond its fiber footprint. InteleCONNECT will operate under the brand "InteleCONNECT powered by CTC."
Why it matters: The acquisition adds a consultative, provider-agnostic advisory model to CTC's infrastructure-based offering. It gives the cooperative access to a broader network of provider partnerships and new business customers and markets.
"The acquisition of InteleCONNECT is an important milestone in CTC's long-term growth strategy," said Kristi Westbrock, chief executive officer and general manager of CTC.
What changes for customers? Existing InteleCONNECT clients keep the same personalized support, with added access to CTC's resources, network capabilities, and service expertise.
"Joining CTC allows us to continue that mission with even more resources, while maintaining the relationships and service our customers rely on," said Brenda Eisenscheck, owner of InteleCONNECT.
The signal: Regional telecom cooperatives are broadening beyond fixed infrastructure into advisory and multi-provider services, positioning themselves as technology advisors rather than single-network operators. For CTC, absorbing a brokerage is a way to grow business revenue without laying more fiber.
