IDB Invest backs Rentek with $10M loan for Colombian equipment leasing

What's the deal? IDB InvestDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → has approved up to $10 million in debt financing for Rentek, a Colombian company specialising in leasing solutions for productive assets. The transaction is a secured senior loan in Colombian pesos with a maturity of up to five years.

What's the endgame? Rentek uses flexible leasing models to help companies acquire machinery, technology, medical equipment, and digital infrastructure without tying up capital. The proceeds will fund the purchase of industrial machinery, technological equipment, digitalisation solutions, and medical and scientific equipment.

Who benefits? The financing targets small and medium-sized enterprises, primarily in manufacturing, health care, and specialised services. These sectors depend on assets that face rapid technological renewal and growing demands for operational efficiency.

Why now? Leasing has become a strategic tool for companies seeking financial flexibility and more efficient capital allocation. "This financing allows us to continue expanding access to leasing solutions for companies that need to grow, modernise, and increase productivity without tying up capital," Rentek said in a statement.

The signal: The deal reflects IDB Invest's push to widen private sector access to financing across the Andean region. "This transaction reflects our commitment to supporting companies that provide innovative tools to strengthen competitiveness in Colombia," said Carlos Narvaez, IDB Invest's head of corporates for the Andean Countries.
